Mark & Sue Sage

Originally from the UK, Sue and Mark have been in New Zealand for 25 years

Sue and Mark have been cooking together for 30 years, their passion for food and travel has taken them all around the world, successfully running the kitchens in hotels, lodges and a well renowned local winery.

In 2017 set up their own catering company Focus on Food.

“We are passionate about creating great tasting food that will stimulate the palate and appeal to the eyes. global wide travels have given us a love of street foods and clean, fresh flavours.”

They live in Arrowtown, their little piece of paradise.

Mark has been cooking since he was a small boy and has always been intrigued by interesting flavours and spices from around the globe.

Mark lived and worked in France for 3 years, getting inspiration from the fresh, local and seasonal produce from the markets. He then moved to London to run a kitchen for Michael Caine, cooking for the rich and famous, politicians, and Royalty, again with the principle of using fresh, seasonal ingredients, challenging himself and his staff to change the menu daily.

Marks passion for global cuisine is evident with his attention to detail and authenticity when creating flavours from around the world.

Sue has been passionate about cooking from an early age baking with her mother as soon as she could stand.

Classic City & Guilds trained in catering and hotel management. Sue cooked in London for Directors in their private dining rooms, and at their country estates. She also freelanced and ran a successful catering company. Sue has a love of teaching and is passionate about sharing her culinary skills with others, specializing in desserts, pastries, and cakes.
